Sample letter to a Missionary
Dear (Missionary you wish to adopts name),
Hello, my name is (Your Name). Recently mu church, Kuna Baptist Church voted to add a “Faith Promsie” component to our churches missions program. All of us at Kuna Baptist were challenged to become more involved in reaching the lost both here locally and around the world. We were asked to “adopt” a missionary, get to know that missionary and give monthy to that missionary’s needs above and beyond our regular monthly giving.
I am exited to let you know that I/we have adopted you/your family as my/our missionary/missionaries. I/we understand that “adopting” a missionary involves more than just writing a check. I/we want to get to know you and your ministry better and to pray for you regularly. Our pastor even told us we should consider coming and visiting you on the field so that we can really catch a feel for your ministry. It may be a while before I/we are able to do that. But I/we do want to get to know you better.
Could you share with me/us your testimony? I came to know Christ when I was .. (give your testimony, when you came to know Christ, where and how and maybe a passage or two of scripture God used to draw you unto Himself). I/we enjoy … (share a bible verse/passage, your hobbies, favorite music, or anything that might open lines of communication).
I/we look forward to hearing from you and building a relationship with you. You will be in my prayers so please put me on your prayer letter or news letter list and/or provide me with specific prayer requests.
Right now I/we am/are facing .. (share a prayer request or two for the missionary to be praying for you about. Relationships are a two way street).
I/We can’t wait to hear from you. Here is my contact information (share several ways to contact you and mention which one you prefer. Please keep in mind if a missionary is on certain fields they may have limited ways to contact you and they may be extremely busy, so be patient).
